4.26 era in the NL, as a RELIEVER is worse than bad, but hey let them think what they want..........

Since we are barely a quater of the way thru the season... his ERA maybe higher then normal due to the fact that he may have had just one or 2 bad outtings...

Remeber smoltz last year... one bad outing took him 4 months to get that era looking half normal...

I wouldn't go comparing Biddle to Smoltz just yet by any stretch of the imagination. I still think it was a damn good trade and that I'd rather have Colon than Biddle, Liefer, and Osuna. Biddle was good, but just didn't fit into the plans here. Osuna was a short reliever/setup man... those are almost a dime a dozen it seems. Liefer... well... is Liefer. Getting a #1 stud like Colon (and a damn good workhorse who will put his team ahead of himself... ask Jerry Hairston) for 2 expendable guys and one guy that wouldn't have been able to do much with the team is good, IMO.

Not comapring the two... just saying... ERA is inflated right now... perhaps due to just one bad outing...

you think Koch's ERA is gonna recover this year?

I think Koch will end up fine. Now that his mechanics are back to normal (from what he says) his fastball won't just be gopher batting practice balls over the heart of the plate.

You can all gripe about Kenny & Jerry as much as you want. The biggest problems with this year's Sox are

1) scoring runners from third base with less than two our

2) our relievers getting out the first man they face.

As for the Rick White bashing, I believe he had an ERA of about 1 for St Louis last year after they picked him up for the stretch run. :bringit

Yeah, because we know how better off we would have been with Dan Evans running the show....

LOL...

Paul Shuey for Ricardo Rodriguez? Sounds good! :lolhitting :bang

I've always loved Rocky so I'm glad to see him go to a more successful team and be a big part of it. No way would we have made him our closer, and he would most likely have sucked if he stayed with us. Best wishes to him and hope he can rack up 40 saves. :headbang

Yes, well an ERA of 9 (with no one particularly unusually bad outing) in late May isn't exactly lights-out... I admit he COULD turn it around, but... given that St. Louis (a normally excellent judge on pitching talent) let him go after that stint he had with 'em last year,....
