Best World Series Book?

Featured Replies

Does anybody have some thoughts on the various World Series books that were put out soon after the Sox won?

I was thinking of getting, one or more, of them. I live far away from Chicago so they are not in my local bookstore and I haven't been able to check them out.

Here are the Amazon links

Trib book

Sun Times Book

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/159670139...5Fencoding=UTF8

and a Sporting News book (with Ozzie introduction)

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/089204845...5Fencoding=UTF8

Thanks for any feedback!

Got all 3 and they are all worth owning.

I'd get all of them if you can for collectibles.

If you have to pick one, go with the Tribune book.

Agreed about getting them all. I don't think it'll take another 88 years to see the Sox win the WS again, but you never know. Might as well not regret it.

My favorite was the Sporting News one though. The Sun-Times was probably my least favorite.

I own most of them, and I think the Sporting News did by far the best job. Photos you won't find anywhere else, great coverage of the regular season to go with great playoff coverage. I also got the added bonus of gettin ahold of one of these...

Apparently, the special edition of the Sporting News version is pretty rare. My sisters boss, Arlington Park chairman Dick Duchossois (yes, I am a random name dropper), was able to get his hands on one of these and gave it to her. Pretty sweet!

out of those 3 listed, i only have the trib one. But i have a ton of other random magazines and stuff and by far the Trib book is the best one I own.

I like the trib one the best.. :D

I like the one put out by the Tribune and also the one by the Sportingnews, both are good but I think I like "The Pride of Chicago" by the sportingnews the best. It has regular season pictures in it as well. Both bring back wonderful memories of a season that will live forever with White Sox fans. :gosox3: :gosoxretro:

Is there a hard cover version of the trib book or does it just come as a paperback?

This hardcover is coming out in March FYI.

I see it's written by Phil Rogers. That could be interesting.
