I'm watching the Royals/A's game (KC up 3-1 in the 8th), and they had a commercial where they ask all the A's players what kind of animal they would want to be. At the end, Miguel Tejada says "A donkey", and the A's player he was sitting next to starts laughing his ass off., funny stuff.

I've noticed a few really good commercials from other teams. I also like the Sox one with the husband and wife talking about how he left his son's wedding to watch the Sox game.

Still, I think the best commercials involve the players in a way where the fans can get to know the more.

Seems like the A's organization has it all figured out, from their successful major league team, to their advertising, and to their minor league farm clubs. (I work for the Cougars, are 35-17 in first place in Midwestern League.)

The funniest one I saw, even though I hate the player, was the Mariners one with Bret Boone flipping numerous different things after he was done using them, ala his bat flip after his homers. I was laughing my ass off.

But I agree, the best commercials are the ones with the players in them. The Sox started to do that last season, I liked those ones, they should try again. The Magglio Bobble head doll one was f***ing great. It's the same appeal of the Paulie Sportcenter commercial, they're sports players, and can't act, that's exactly why it's funny.

NOTHING beats Maggs' Pepsi Half Price Tuesday commercial from 2001 that was shown on WCIU all the time!!!

Uh oh....I gotta do it now.

PK: You know what's weird? I play for the White Sox, but wear black socks.

TH: No, that's not weird.

PK: Is it weird that the foul pole is in fair territory?

TH: No, that's not that weird either.

(pause)

TH: But you know what is weird?

PK: What?

TH: (pointing outside) That.

(ESPN workers and sports mascots skip around a maypole )

PK: Yeah, that's definately weirder than my socks

LMFAO! I love that commercial.
