Boy Falls From Roller Coaster at Fla. Theme Park

Sunday, February 26, 2006

Associated Press

WINTER HAVEN, Fla. — A boy has been hospitalized in Florida after he fell off a wooden roller coaster at a theme park.

A spokeswoman for Cypress Gardens theme park says the boy fell from about 15 feet from the Triple Hurricane roller coaster yesterday.

A statement from the park says that there were no indications of a malfunction with the ride and that the restraint in the boy's seat was still in a locked position.

Hospital officials in Tampa say the boy, who is between 12 and 15 years old, is in serious condition with multiple injuries.

Officials say the ride is closed pending an investigation.

If its the one near Tampa, I've been to it. Nice water park across the street too.
