Alvarez has quietly gotten up there to .324. Seems like he was just around .270.

hows hankins hustle out there in the field???? im thinking hes one of my picks.. of course ill make my final decision after i see them play a game or two but from paper he looks pretty good thus far..........

One bad thing about Durham, 9 CS compared to 8 steals, how can a guy with his supposed speed do that?

I like Hankins, seems like a gamer, clutch hits often, like to see him make it sometime.

Also, I like Alvarez, I know he played in majors with Detroit, and he was a very highly liked prospect long ago, so will probably never make it back, but I like him. Like that he and Hankins both walk often, Alvarez is probably a good 1Bman too, since he was 3Bman most of his career.

malone is getting railed, ring is pitching lights out

so you like hankins huh.....im really anxious to see him play.. im more curious about his defensive stuff as opposed to his offensive.. he looks good in the numbers department as far as offense is concerned... want to see how well he performs in the field though......the more i read up on this kid the more i like him.........

Here is the deal with Hankins....

He is unimpressive unless you watch him over time. He has little power and is basically a corner player, which will cause him problems getting to higher levels. Along with a lack of power, he has little speed. He is adequate to good defensively, but not Brooks Robinson or Don Mattingly. He has very average overall skills and seems to be headed for Minor League veteran status.

All that said, Hankins is a gamer. He is the kind of guy that will end a season with 85 RBI and you can't figure out how he got there. He drives in big runs and is the kind of guy you want on your team. He isn't big and is not likely going to make it as a corner infielder.

Lots of players have Ryan's skills that never make the big leagues. He has begun to play some 2B and even C for a few games to make him more valuable. As much as I like Hankins as a player, I really thing he will have a tough time ever making the Majors or sticking if he ever does.

He's a great guy to have on a AA club, but I think that is about as far as it goes. He will likely see AAA next year and do okay, but I wouldn't expect him to tear it up.

I hope I am wrong.

You can add 12 more K's to Neal's line after tonight/last nights performence ;)

If I had to guess, getting his ass kicked all over the place

Pretty hard to get 'railed' when you are on the DL.

He's been on the DL for almost a month now, so hard to say getting his ass kicked. But his numbers do suck, so I get the general idea.
