SSH2005
http://www.suntimes.com/output/sports/cst-spt-sox18.html Bullpen giving Guillen more grief than relief March 18, 2006 TUCSON, Ariz. -- Coming off the only scheduled day off from camp, White Sox manager Ozzie Guillen wanted to turn up the intensity Friday. He played his regular lineup, except that Rob Mackowiak -- not Scott Podsednik -- started in left field and led off. The results, however, were the same. The Sox fell 10-9 to the Texas Rangers, dropping their Cactus League record to 3-13. But Guillen remains most upset at the corps of relievers vying for at least two open spots in the bullpen. With each day, he seems to be leaning toward letting left-hander Boone Logan, 21, make the jump from Class A to the big leagues. "The one thing that is starting to aggravate me is the people coming from the bullpen,'' Guillen said. "I've never seen, in that many years in the big leagues, anything like this. It's like, 'Here's your shot, take it,' and they are not grabbing it. I don't know if it's because they have a tight butt or they don't have good enough stuff to be at the big-league level. "It's a shame that a guy like Logan, who was playing in extended spring [training] last year, has a shot to make the team. That's embarrassing. They should be embarrassed. That shows what kind of organization we have. I don't care if you played Little League last year -- if you perform here and open my eyes and my coaching staff's eyes, we are going to keep you. All those guys who have been sent down, and we have been using here, better take a look at themselves in the mirror and see how horse [expletive] they are.'' YASNY
I love Ozzie. If they're horses***, call them horses***. Why sugarcoat it for the press? All you have then is sugarcoated horses***.

At least that he shouldn't be depended on keeping up his ST success
AirScott
QUOTE(beck72 @ Mar 18, 2006 -> 07:38 AM) His comments also seem to suggest Logan isn't going to be the answer. At least that he shouldn't be depended on keeping up his ST success well how rare is anybody making a jump from single A to the bigs? I'm sure that Ozzie told the relievers vying for the last spot the same thing he told the press, and I'm sure he made it clear that if Boone Logan can keep up this success during the regular season then great, but he just wouldn't expect a pitcher making that big of a jump to keep this up.
