Sox Look Bolstered, But Questions Still Loom

There is no such thing as a “paper champion.” Coming off a heroic-like championship run, the 2006 Chicago White Sox will be the first to tell you this.

 

Though the additions of Jim Thome, Javier Vazquez, Rob Mackowiak and Alex Cintron give the White Sox a paper champion feel, many have overlooked the subtractions of a team formerly built on pitching and defense. Regulars Carl Everett, Aaron Rowand, Damaso Marte, Luis Vizcaino and bench players Timo Perez and Willie Harris have all seen the exit.
