SSH2005
http://suntimes.com/output/sox/cst-spt-cowley23.html NOT AN OPTION: Reliever Dustin Hermanson, on schedule to test his injured back Friday in a Cactus League game, stressed that retirement is not an option, nor has the word ever come out of his mouth. While there's a chance he might have to start the season on the disabled list, Hermanson reiterated that he would do everything he could to get back later in the year. http://chicago.whitesox.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb...t=.jsp&c_id=cws Game-day challenge: After another strong 52-pitch side session Wednesday, Dustin Hermanson was more upbeat about his recovery from continued back problems. He did add a cautious warning as told to him by general manager Ken Williams, in that after his second epidural Tuesday, Hermanson shouldn't be feeling any pain. But the true test will come Friday, when Hermanson pitches against the Mariners in Peoria. Hermanson originally was scheduled to throw in a Minor League game but wanted to see how he fares against Major League competition. "I'm anxious to get in there and see how it reacts," said Hermanson, who also will throw Sunday at home against Kansas City if all goes well. "There's not a whole lot to talk about until I get in the game. There's not a whole lot of substituting for pitching in a game."
NorthSideSox72
I like Hermy. He's gutsty, and he is a great guy to have around the 'pen. And when healthy, he'd be an ideal middle reliever for us. So... I hope his optimism turns out to be warranted. But I have my doubts.

whitem0nkey
He can’t control how his back feels, but he can control his attitude, and that’s exactly what you want to hear.
