April 5, 200620 yr As far as I know, the verdict is still out on circumcision and HIV transmission. A search of the literature reveals recognized experts saying circumcision lowers transmission rates and then there are other wqually respected individuals saying circumcision may actually increase transmission rates. I'm not up on the latest opinion but I know it's not been conclusively shown one way or the other.
