Frank Thomas came into 2006 with 448 career home runs; Jim Thome came in with 430.

 

At the end of this season, who will have more career home runs, Thomas or Thome?

I predict there will be more threads comparing the two, than HRs.

You are assuming that both men stay healthy all season. I definetely dont see Thomas staying off the DL but I think Thome can as good of shape as he's in.

I think if healthy Thomas gets 500 by next years All Star break...

Thomas will foul out more times in Oak-even if he stays healthy, it will be Thome by year end

Thome will mash 52 this season and Thomas will hit 18 in an injury shortened season (not the ankle...but will hurt his knee or some other part of his leg compensating for the ankle). So you do the math...Thome will easily pass the Big Hurt.

I see Frank getting about 20, which means if Thome gets around 40, which looks doable, he passes the Big hurt.

Thomas is going to have some nagging injuries, so I think he ends up with somewhere between 15 and 25. Thome can get an awful lot more than that if he stays healthy, and I think the odds are decent that he does.
