They are in a world of hurt because they have terrible ownership, a terrible GM, a terrible coach, a bunch of over-paid FAs, a thin farm system and an overrated injury-prone pitching staff. I wouldn't know where to start with that team...I guess Zambrano and Lee are the stars to build around and maybe Ramirez (since it took them 35 years to find another 3B after Santo).

No, they have won the NL east for like the last 16 years, and packing it up would be a terrible way to end that incredible streak. They have to play for dignity and go done swinging

Why, pray tell, would we want someone that can't cut it in this division?

We don't need a big piece to our puzzle... we just need another arm for the bullpen at this point. Hell, if Politte can post a reasonable ERA for the remainder of the season, we'll be alright.

 

Even if we need another arm, we don't have to worry about finding some desperate team looking to unload an elite bullpen arm. Another deal like the Riske one will do just fine.
