It seems like Sweeney has shown more power every year. This team has plenty of power. We'll have plenty of power for a long time. We need good hitters. I think Sweeney will be an excellent hitter, good defender and good baserunner. An all around solid player. Not just a guy who smacks homers and than strikeouts 3 times in a row.

I agree 100%.

A lot of scouts think as Sweeney grows more comfortable he will learn to better pull the ball. He had some wrist problems that really limited his power and he's definately developing a bit more power. However, other scouts are beginning to have doubts about whether he will really develop much power.

I think 20 HR's would be real nice out of him and I don't project him being more than a 30 HR guy.

More like 15-25 if all goes right while he hits for a pretty high average and plays darn good defense. Of course in the early years it may be even less power.

I've long compared his offensive production to that of Garret Anderson (took a long time for him to develop HR power).

I'd be willing to give up all of them. Honestly, there is no Chris Young on that list this time around. Then again, I was reluctant to give up Jeremy Reed too. I've never been a huge fan of Sweeney. Fields would be the one of the bunch I'd want to keep most, but he doesn't have a clear spot so losing him is no huge loss. I like Broadway but have doubts. We don't have any top tier prospects right now.

Very good call here.
