July 31, 200619 yr QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 31, 2006 -> 10:45 AM) I find it funny that they got a better situational reliever than Majewski, and they didn't have to give up Lopez/Kearns type potential in order to land Cormier. This is a very good trade for the Reds. Very true, although the lefty Bray they got in the Nats deal is going to be very good IMO and he's only in his early 20's, but still Cormier is a very good pickup. Cormier, Guardado, Bray, Majewski, Mercker once he's healthy, Coffey, and Standridge is a good bullpen by NL standards. They also traded for Kyle Lohse, which on paper seems pointless, but he's another guy that could be decent since he's going to the weak NL, he has playoff experience in which he pitched decent (era in the 3's), and he's going to be their 5th starter. The Reds made a couple pretty good subtle moves today actually.
