June 13, 200322 yr Do you realize that even though we are f***ed now, how f***ed we would be had the Twins actually done something smart and drafted Mark Prior? I know there were signability problems, but if they signed him, and they traded Radke/Milton/Mays and Reed....their rotation right now would be f***ing sick. Prior, Santana, Lohse, Mays, Milton That 1-2-3 combo would rival the A's....and our friend Ken Rosenthal would be right, because I think the Twins would win the series....year after year after year after year.... Obviously, you can tell it's been a slow night
June 13, 200322 yr He was almost signed by the Yankees. I think the Twins did Draft hima nd he didn't sign
June 13, 200322 yr Author He was almost signed by the Yankees. I think the Twins did Draft hima nd he didn't sign No, they had the #1 pick overall and they drafted Mauer. I remember hearing about the Yankees drafting him. It would have sucked to have seen Prior on the Yankees.
June 13, 200322 yr The Yanks Didn't draft him. The Scout almost had him and Made some Dumb Comments in front of a man that turned out to be Prior's dad. And Prior's father cut off talks with the Spakees and George Fired the Scout. Would have been the SOx they would have gave him a raise
June 13, 200322 yr He was almost signed by the Yankees. I think the Twins did Draft hima nd he didn't sign Are you talking about Milton? Milton was from the Yankees system. They got him in the Knoblauch deal. Loshe came from the Cubs in the Augelera trade.
June 13, 200322 yr The Yankees did, in fact, draft Prior in an earlier draft thatn when the Cubs got him.
June 13, 200322 yr No, I was talking about Prior. The yanks almost had him outta HighSchool After further reading your post it made sense. I forgot it was them that took him later in the draft. Was Prior actually thinking about signing with him? What I always heard was he wanted to go to college cause he knew he could make more. Plus I'm assuming Prior is from a rather well off family since he was able to work with Tom House.
June 13, 200322 yr The Yankees did, in fact, draft Prior in an earlier draft thatn when the Cubs got him. You are correct YAS. The Yanks did get Prior. Prior, however, decided to go to Vanderbilt. I must be one of the only ones here that would have rather seen Prior go to Minnesota. I could stomach losing to Prior alot easier than losing to Cy Mays. Plus the Sox, unlike with Cy Mays, have beaten Mark Prior .
June 13, 200322 yr Vanderbilt? Talk about the cradle of pitchers. It was USC. He transferred to USC from Vanderbilt.
June 13, 200322 yr I would much rather see the Yankees or the Twins have prior than the cubs. I am of the hate the cubs as much as I like the Sox mentality

Btw, the Twins actually were smart not drafting Prior, from what I have hear there is no way they would have been able to sign him. In Mauer they have one of baseballs soon to be great catchers. The guy is a natural hitter. It worries me, bc when Mauer is ready he will dominate, and the Twins may get some decent players when the time comes to trade Pierzinsky
