‘Lights' a top attraction

From Staff Reports

The American Bus Association announced Washington Park's annual Festival of Lights, to be held Dec. 2 through Jan. 7, has been designated as one of the Top 100 Events in North America for 2007. It will be included in the Top 100 list, published as a supplement to the September/October issue of “Destinations” magazine

The LaPorte County Convention and Visitors Bureau had submitted this event, along with several other festivals in LaPorte County, for nomination and the ABA chose Washington Park Festival of Lights to be one of the top 100 events in the United States and Canada.

“The LaPorte County CVB is not only pleased to have nominated this event, but is very proud that this event can be found in LaPorte County,” said Susan Bietry, director of operations for the Visitors Bureau. “This recognition is an example of how we work together with our partners to promote tourism in our communities.”

“The attractiveness of the Festival of Lights as a don't-miss entertainment value is only part of why its selection this year is such a distinction for Michigan City,” said Peter J. Pantuso, ABA's president and CEO.

ABA's 2007 Top 100 Events Selection Committee selected Washington Park Festival of Lights from among hundreds of U.S. and Canadian events nominated.

The Washington Park Festival of Lights has been an annual event for over 15 years at Washington Park.

Beneficiaries of this annual festival are the American Cancer Society, The Salvation Army and Washington Park Holiday Light Fund.

The Top 100 Events list is available online at www.bueses.org.

Is it considered one of Indiana's terror targets?

(Edit: By the way, I like the choice of Simpsons quotes as the subject)
