September 30, 200619 yr With his triple in the 9th inning, Ross Gload completed his 3/5 night, including a double and triple. Thats, like, a .600/.600/1.200 line if I calculated it correctly, making him FAR better than any other offensive player on this team. Maybe that's hindsight talking but that might have been the difference between being in the post-season and watching it. What if KW hadn't signed Paulie in the offseason and inserted Gload in the lineup ? Would we have made the playoffs ?
September 30, 200619 yr Good lord. Gload over Konerko? Stop the insanity. Konerko didn't have THAT bad of a year.
September 30, 200619 yr No way Gload over Konerko. Gload has done a great job with the time he has received, but chances are his numbers would come down with more playing time, like Ozuna's did. I do wish Gload got more time vs RHPs though. I don't think that would have made the difference, it still comes down to pitching.
September 30, 200619 yr Gload for Konerko? No, that wouldn't have made a difference. But, by September, I think everybody except our manager could tell that there were at least two better options sitting on the bench in favor of our left-fielder. One of Ozzie's many failures this year was not cutting bait with Podsednik sooner. The guy in position to get the most ABs on our team was also, without a doubt, our WORST hitter in the second half, putting up a worse-than-dismal .242/.298/.300 batting line. It really makes me angry, too. What did Pods do to deserve the spot to start against righties this year? He had one hot streak, more or less, that "earned" him the spot, which came in May. His next highest OBP month was .330. That also includes two months where his OBP was in the .280s. I think I can safely say that Podsednik was our worst starting player this year. He provided absolutely nothing to the 2006 Sox, and probably even held them back. Edited September 30, 200619 yr by CWSGuy406
September 30, 200619 yr Author I'm really disappointed that only one of you got that this was sarcasm, and a joke referring to this thread since the last 2 lines were taken directly from it.. Edited September 30, 200619 yr by Felix

We lost a high percentage of games against lefties because of this very fact.

October 1, 200619 yr QUOTE(Shamrock4Life @ Sep 30, 2006 -> 05:03 PM) pods was always the firecracker of this offense in 05 though wasn't he? Yeah, that was then, this was now Pods sucked this year
October 1, 200619 yr Role players do well when they are in their element. Everytime one gets a good game under their belt we start with this "they should have been the regular," stuff. Konerko is the man and has done darn good,
