It would shock me. A, the A's aren't gonna spend a ton of money for a manager (especially when they are already paying Macha 2 mill) and B, Baker isn't going to just sit there and be told what to do by Beane. If I were a proven mgr (and Baker is that, even though he didn't actually do that great with the Cubs) there is absolutely no way I'd take the A's job.

 

In fact, I'd do all I could not to take that job, unless my only other choice was something like the Dray job.

 

For what it's worth, someone I know is developing a film project with LaRussa based on Three Nights in August. Word is that LaRussa will not be back next year with the Cards and would like the job in San Francisco.
