November 28, 200619 yr The Blue Jays and catcher Gregg Zaun have capped a bizarre 24 hours by agreeing in principle Tuesday on a $7.25-million, two-year contract, according to the Canadian Press. link Damn! If there was one position we have no depth at and i wanted KW to overspend, it was back up catcher. I would've loved to have Zaun locked up for 2 possibly even 3 years. If AJP goes down we have no one. Zaun destroys LHP .373AVG, he also had a 4.34CERA for '06 and 3.79CERA for '05.
November 28, 200619 yr He's going to be the starter in Toronto, though. Don't think he would have come here to back up AJ.

November 28, 200619 yr QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Nov 28, 2006 -> 02:03 PM) Bengie Molina? Fa. The article stated that Ricciardi doesn't want to resign Molina, also that the Barajas deal fell through. So Zaun appears to be it.

So Zaun appears to be it. Yeah, supposedly Barajas was a done deal with the Jays since all he had to do was the physical, but he probably got higher offers before the physical so he turned the Jays down looking for more. Riccardi seemed pretty pissed. Not many players left like JD who stands by his word. Edited November 29, 200619 yr by Whitewashed in '05
November 30, 200619 yr they offered Barajas 2 year, $5.25 they got Zaun at 2 year, $7.25 I love Riccardi's quote “Zaunie was our first choice all along”
