check out the website mobile17.com...you can take your mp3 files and make ringtones out of them for free. it lets you even pick out what part of the song you want to start and end at. And since its your own song files the ringtones are very high-quality

I just use my sound recorder and record the songs and then make them my ringtones. I can pick what part of the song and its really quick and easy.

my old phone had that and I always did that, my newer phone doesn't have that and I have to put up with it for another year and a half.

I know for sprint at least, go to www.3gforfree.com on your cell phones browser and you can pick songs, pics and games for free.
