June 28, 200322 yr What do people see in a 7-year minor league veteran who's had 1 good season and still can't take a walk?
June 28, 200322 yr I'm not crazy about Colon's production, that's for sure. And Manuel is being protective of Colon by limiting his pitch count more conservatively, lately. Perhaps because he already has 5 CG and he still wants Colon to has gas in his tank at the end of the season, which might be a very smart move to make in the long run. I don't expect Manuel to let Colon go 9 innings tomorrow unless his pitch count is on the low side. So, no he won't be " the workhorse, the complete gamer, the one who gets stronger as the game goes on" because JM will pull him at or near 100 pitches. However, if we are going to do any post season damage, simply put, we are going to have to have a strong healthy Bartolo Colon.
June 29, 200322 yr Tell you Colon lovers what I'll do, same as last weekend. If our 'Tub of Goo' steps up tomorrow, and I mean pitches like the $12 million guy he wants to be, the workhorse, the complete gamer, the one who gets stronger as the game goes on, if he doesn't quit because our hitters get shutout for 7 or 8 innings, if he shuts down the cUB even with only a one run lead, I'll take back my statements about him and get off his (roomy!) ass. Afterall, I'd really prefer he was what you guys think he is, I just don't believe he is at all. 98 pitches today, but he quit earlier than that. I do not believe our 'tub of goo' wants to be here.
June 29, 200322 yr What do people see in a 7-year minor league veteran who's had 1 good season and still can't take a walk? He's got fire, and he will probably play better then Jimenez? Just a hunch
