He actually got off quite easy considering he could have got 10 years. Well the inevitable conviction of a felony and jail time is now official, I hope I'm wrong thinking it's inevitable, as it has been for a while, that the Illini basketball team will have a convicted felon on it next year after a certain suspension. Bruce has officially lost me forever if this guy isn't kicked off the team. It's one thing to struggle recruiting (which he seems to be getting better at), but lack of institutional control can't happen (although a lot of this goes to Guenther for letting Bruce do it too).
May 25, 200718 yr Author QUOTE(Buehrle>Wood @ May 25, 2007 -> 12:19 AM) Surprised it took you this long. Do YOU think a convicted felon and jailbird should be playing basketball and getting a free education at the University of Illinois? I don't. The Daily Illini reported this: "According to court record, Smith's drug and alcohol evaluation found that before being arrested, Smith reported typically consuming a pint of Jose Cuervo tequila three times a week. . . The evaluation also found Smith to be a high risk for alcohol dependence and stress coping abilities. They also found he was a significant risk as a driver and a medium risk as a drug user after he reported secondary use of marijuana." This guy is Josh Hancock without the tow truck and the dumbass father, but WITH a passenger that almost died and still is battling concussion problems. I'll pass.
