whitesoxfan101
Well intead of panicking like I usually do, I'll be more logical. Today's game was really a microcosim of everything wrong with us (horrible bullpen that I THOUGHT Kenny said he fixed, a lineup that cannot excecute productive outs with 1st and 2nd 0 out and 2nd and 3rd 1 out, no speed, poor managing). Now I still think we will eventually hit and that Thornton is ok, but in a division this tough, we have no shot at any better than 85 to 88 wins and 3rd place with this bullpen and this poorly balanced of a lineup. Obviously, Sisco being gone and MacDougal maybe going to the DL with a case of bad helps, but we still need to find somebody that can get outs in that pen. Maybe we should make Masset pretend he's always coming in as a starter. Edited May 27, 2007 by whitesoxfan101
fathom
Not acquiring more major league talent this offseason is really coming back to hurt us. We're having to dig deep into our minor league system now, and those guys are never ready to contribute right away.
BearSox
Put Ozuna and Mac on the DL. Sisco to AAA. Call up Sweeney, Prinz, and Vazquez... Lineup: Erstad, CF Iguchi, 2B Thome, DH Konerko 1B Dye, RF Pierzynski/Hall, C Crede, 3B Uribe, SS Sweeney/Mack/Terrero, LF Rotation stays the same. Bullpen: CP, Jenks SU, Thornton SU, Aardsma MRP, Logan (loogy) MRP, Vazquez MRP, Prinz LRP, Massett
whitesoxfan101
QUOTE(fathom @ May 27, 2007 -> 05:45 PM) Not acquiring more major league talent this offseason is really coming back to hurt us. Certainly, and considering the people we have up to make big money or become free agents in the next couple of years, things aren't getting any better in that regard. I wasn't worried about the 2008 and 2009 seasons going into the offseason. I think everyone on here knows that the window with the Konerko, Buehrle, Crede, Garland core was closing after 2007. Our division is just too loaded for the next few years to think we won't have to rebuild and not be a WS contender for a few years.

I just hope we don't go back into the sick cycle of management saying we will spend if you show up, and fans saying we'll show up if you spend, a trend that was only reversed (at least for now) by something as great as 2005.
