This is great and overdue. So little is ever heard of Billy Pierce who was easily one of the best pitchers of his era. He probably should be in the hall of fame. I'm glad to see him get this recognition and wish I could be there.

As for further statues, how many can they have out there? I'd like to see statues of Shoeless Joe, Big Ed Walsh (of course) and maybe Luke Appling. And of course, Frank had gotta be honored. It'd be neat if they do that to coincide with him going into the hall of fame.

Probably one of the most underrated and forgotten players in the history of the game. The stubbornness of his manager Al Lopez probably cost the Sox a chance at a WS victory in 1959. If you ever meet him, he is intelligent, witty and modest. What a contrast to some of the jerks in today's game. He deserves this.

I'll echo your opinion of Pierce. I met him at a card show as a little leaguer. Nice gentleman.
