South Park creators agree $75m deal

'South Park' creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone have agreed a $75m deal for a three-season extension of the hit series and a new digital offshoot.

Under the deal, Parker and Stone will set up with US network Comedy Central South Park Digital Studios, which will see the animated show cross over into the digital world, with new projects also planned.

The Hollywood Reporter says the duo will get a 50-50 ad split on digital platforms as part of the new agreement with Comedy Central.

AdvertisementCommenting, Stone said: "Three more years of 'South Park' will give us the opportunity to offend that many more people. And since Trey and I are in charge of the digital side of 'South Park', we can offend people on their cell phones, game consoles, and computers too. It's all very exciting for us."

Parker and Stone's current deal was set to expire at the end of 2008 but 'South Park' will now run until 2011.

I wonder if Hannah- Barbara, or the like, were ever bitter...

awesome news, I love South Park. It's been even better the last few years with the technology that lets them write shows and get them on the air days before the air date. Has kept it topical and great

sounds good to me.
