Wanne
Can't friggin wait. About 20 min. from my house!!!! http://www.azcentral.com/community/glendal...dbreak1120.html There is more to be done on a complex deal, but Monday was a day to celebrate baseball and the newest additions to spring training in Maricopa County: the Los Angeles Dodgers and the Chicago White Sox. "I'm 18 years old again," said Dodgers fan Jon Thompson, 59, who drove down from Sedona to soak in the revelry as ground officially broke on Glendale's spring-training stadium. Steff
QUOTE(Wanne @ Nov 20, 2007 -> 10:20 AM) Can't friggin wait. About 20 min. from my house!!!! http://www.azcentral.com/community/glendal...dbreak1120.html An even further FYI, it's not for '09 unless the Sox find a replacement for their spot in Tucson - which they are tied to until 2012. 29andPoplar
It is an interesting situation in Tucson but the White Sox may not need to find another team. The Rockies are pressuring Pima County and the baseball commission in Tucson (and the city) for improvements to Hi Corbett. They are talking to Goodyear (west suburb of Phoenix) about moving in with the Indians in their new complex if they don't make progress. If the Rockies move, the other two teams leases have an out clause (Dbacks and White Sox). There has to be 3 teams in Tucson or the other two can move with no strings. Dbacks are already making contingency plans. White Sox have supposedly been instrumental in getting the Rockies to think about Goodyear.
