April 8, 200818 yr Author QUOTE (Heads22 @ Apr 8, 2008 -> 12:59 PM) I like how we're in just the first week of the season and Charlotte's already messed up. Any word on the story with Eggy? What's his injury, and when does he return? And what exactly is the Charlotte rotation SUPPOSED to be? I assumed it was Broadway-Egbert-Haeger-Sisco-?????, with the ????? being Whisler or McCulloch. Except McCulloch is in B-Ham.
April 8, 200818 yr I'm guessin' they're just trying to take it slow with Jack. He was experiencing some pain this spring and he threw quite a few innings into the winter. I think the rotation was supposed to be Broadway - Egbert - Haeger - Sisco - Carrasco. I was surprised when I found out Whisler was on the team.
April 8, 200818 yr I didn't think they'd have McCulloch in AAA until he showed something in AA. AAA is going to be fun to watch, if you like to watch minor league vets who suck, that is.
April 8, 200818 yr Charlotte @ Toledo, 6:30pm EDT - Charlotte lists started as TBD (with 2 starters DL'd, they are scraping for starters) You'd think it would be easy to pick up some kind of scrub to fill in. Too bad Heath Phillips wasn't resigned.
April 8, 200818 yr Author QUOTE (Jim Spencer @ Apr 8, 2008 -> 03:15 PM) You'd think it would be easy to pick up some kind of scrub to fill in. Too bad Heath Phillips wasn't resigned. I am still a little pissed that they let Ryan Wing go, when all it would have taken to keep him (as I understand it) was a minor league deal. The guy did very well at B-Ham, he appears healthy now, and was transitioning nicely back into starter-type innings. He could have filled in here, and had more upside than these washouts.
April 8, 200818 yr Lookin forward to another solid line from Harrell. I think by seasons end, he is a top 5 prospect and pushing Poreda for top system pitcher.
April 9, 200818 yr Man Haeger had a rough one 7 inngs, 7ER. At least he only walked 2 and SO 6 and he still got the win Wasserman save # 3 Paul Phillips 4-5 and Josh Fields 1-3 and only 1 SO
April 9, 200818 yr Good to see all those familiar names in Winston Salem tonight. Will Shelby be the man this year? We'll see!!!!
April 9, 200818 yr Author QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Apr 8, 2008 -> 09:49 PM) Fields stinks right now. Its waaaaaaay early. For one thing, he's probably pissed about the demotion, so give him a few games to get that out of his system. For another thing, one would hope he's down there to accomplish a few specific things - timing fastballs, cutting down the K's, and working on defense at 3B. Since he's doing those things, his numbers may not be an accurate reflection of his progress.
