I thought he was a top prospect I'm pretty sure he's hurt. He was pulled out of a game a couple of weeks ago for a pinch runner. And he hasn't played since. He was hitting .323 at the time.

July 11, 200817 yr I think Wes Whisler is a pretty big story this year. Here's a guy who struggled in AA and was labeled as just not having the stuff to make it. Not enough velocity, etc. Look at his season so far - 10-5, 3.46 ERA, 1.73 GO/AO (lots of ground balls!), and good control (31 BB in 101 IP). The only warning sign in his numbers is the low strikeout total (43). Anyone seen him pitch this year? How is he getting guys out with the lack of "stuff"?

Solid defensively, cannon for an arm. Hardly any past balls, wild pitches or stolen bases off of him when I saw him in B'ham. Plus, he has good power from the left side. Not a great hitter for average though.
July 13, 200817 yr sounds like a guy who will probably project to be a Mark Johnson type player with the upside of, say, a Brian Schneider.
