Setting the table

Featured Replies

When reading the debate about who deserves to be AL MVP, I was surprised to see that many people favored Josh Hamilton because of his RBI total. Carlos is beating him in basically every category but RBI's which probably has more to do with our terrible OBP by the top of the order. For comparison's sake their numbers in their slots in the order:

Cabrera .286 .337 .715

Pierzynski: .281 .306 .705

Is there any contending team that is worse at getting on base and setting the table?

Total Bases (2008):

Kinsler: 249 TB

Young: 198 TB

------

Cabrera: 167 TB

Pierzynski: 163 TB

lol, what a joke. how many RBI's would Quentin have if he had multiple runners on base for him as many times as Hamilton has? his RBI totals could very easily match or trump Hamilton's

And don't forget about that IF over there. You're talking about a park where utility players like Ramon Vasquez and Gary Matthews, Jr. can go and come out looking like perennial All-Stars. Sure they've got a fantastic hitting coach in Rudy Jaramillo, but that only goes so far.
