September 2, 200817 yr I'll be flying in to KC on 09/21 for work on Monday. I'm thinking of getting an early flight that Sunday so I could catch the game that afternoon. Anyone else plan on going to the game? Maybe I can meet a fellow Soxtalker.
September 2, 200817 yr I'm either going Friday and Saturday, or Saturday and Sunday. I'll let you know which one it is.
September 2, 200817 yr Author Now I find out that they don't want me in KC on Monday the 22nd. I'm going to try and convince them to send me on the 18th so that I could catch the Friday game of the series.
September 2, 200817 yr I already went to the last one so unless the Sox are close to clinching, I don't think I'll be heading down there. I know it was under construction, but Kauffman might be the worst stadium I've ever been to. The giant scoreboard is awesome and I'm hoping the Sox will spend the money to get one, but the concourse is sooo minor leaguish. Except for the ends, they have the same set of restaurants repeating throughout the area. The beer places are stuffed in the back where you order at one register and walk over to another to pay. Then there are the chicken stands which are perpendicular to the main stands, and they have two lines but you would have no idea. one faces the concourse, and the other faces the entrance to the ball park. So there's one were with people lined up around the corner on the concourse, and the other barely has anyone in it because they aren't sure if they're cutting the rest of the line. The bathrooms are also disgusting. There's also NOTHING but primative baptist churches (that's what it says on the door) by the Shearton hotel which is very close to the stadium. It might be the shortest way for me to see the Sox, but KC is f***ing dump. Edited September 2, 200817 yr by santo=dorf
September 2, 200817 yr I may go depending on work schedule and if they are important games. The stadium is dumpy right now with the construction. There will only be 15,000 fans at the games. I do think the renovations will really help the park. Right now it's a construction zone. Prior to that you rarely heard complaints about Kauffman Stadium. People like it.

Not to mention there isn't much to do around the city. I did stay at that Sheraton, and it was nice. The waterpark, I hear, is awesome.
