Chisoxfn
What was diagnosed originally as a bruise turned out to be two broken bones in infielder Chris Getz's left wrist. "It has limited me to not much of a purpose around here," Getz said Tuesday morning. The broken bones were revealed Monday after Getz had difficulty putting on his glove and playing catch. Durham prospect Wade Davis hit Getz with the pitch in Getz's final at-bat at Triple-A Charlotte on Aug. 31. Getz said initial X-rays revealed no break and he joined the White Sox the next day in Cleveland. Getz pinch-ran for Jim Thome on Sept. 3. "I had [high expectations] for myself to help the team any way I can," Getz said. "I don't know what kind of purpose I serve at this point. "Just for personal development, I'll try to learn as much as I can by watching." Getz injury is why the Sox ultimately removed Haeger from the 40 and added Bourgois. Tough loss but Getz is at least saying all of the right things. Also, I apologize if this was posted somewhere else, but I thought this was big news, especially considering Getz is the teams best pinch runner (yes, better than Owens). scenario
Hurt in his final at-bat in a meaningless end of season AAA game. Great. Add him to the list of wounded. I think somebody up in Minneapolis has a WhiteSox voodoo doll.
JPN366
Shame...he's a solid ballplayer. I hope he gets a shot in Spring Training next year.
witesoxfan
QUOTE (JPN366 @ Sep 10, 2008 -> 03:48 PM) Shame...he's a solid ballplayer. I hope he gets a shot in Spring Training next year. If the Sox don't resign Uribe as a utility infielder, I have to imagine that Getz has the inside track at that spot.
