I wont deny that Span has been great, but i dont feel he's been better than Alexei. Their splits are fairly similar, but Alexei has had 135 more ABs, which shows he has sustained it longer. I know they have different roles (Span: leadoff; Alexei: run producer) but I just feel you need to acknowledge Ramirez' HR and RBI total here. Also, I dont know about Span's defense but Alexei has been great and has made a few phenomenal plays this year. If you want to make an argument for Galaraga i'd be more willing to listen, but i really do feel Alexei should be #2 in ROY voting.

I'd go:

1) Longoria

2) Ramirez

3) Galaraga

4) Aviles

5) Span

Alexei's defense has not been great. At times he's been amazing but he still makes some awful mistakes (ie: any cutoff throw), he's made 10 errors (9 fielding) at 2B which is the second most in the American league at that position (4th lowest Field% in the game) and his RZR (revised zone rating) is the lowest in baseball amongst the 17 qualified 2B. He has definitely shown flashes but you can tell this is his first time playing the position.

If there was any question before(which there really wasn't), Longoria definitely clinched it tonight.
