Sox Spring Training Update

Featured Replies

I've read this a few times now. One from a Daily Star article that I can't find now.

Not sure if it was posted anywhere else...apologies if it was. Maybe something to take your mind off the pain.

The long and the short of it:

Q: How does such a proposal compare with hosting the Sox during spring training each March?

A: The team predicts that by 2011, the facility would attract 600,000 visitors, nearly 100,000 from out of town. The report estimates those visitors would spend $27.6 million, which multiplied for respending adds up to the $46 million impact.

By comparison, the White Sox playing there in March attracts fewer than 18,000 out-of-towners who spend an estimated $6.2 million, according to the report.

After going to Tucson for the last 3 years, but seeing Glendale for the first time this year, I can't wait until the Sox move.

Almost anywhere is better than Tucson.
