CanOfCorn
QUOTE (Wanne @ Nov 6, 2008 -> 05:09 PM) How big a kick in the nuts would it be to OC if the Sox signed Renteria and he had a monster year...only to be lauded by Sox fans? Would actually make me chuckle. I'm kind of on the fence with moving Lexi to SS. Seems to me he makes up for his mental lapses at 2B pretty well with his athletic ability. Not sure he could overcome that at SS. I'd actually prefer to leave him at 2nd...but it all depends on the options available. the problem with what you and others are saying about moving Lexi to SS is this...we haven't really seen him play SS. And since that's what he palyed in Cuba for years, he could be better than we all think. Just because he had issues at 2B doesn't mean he'll have those same issues at SS. True, maybe he'll really be spectacular. He's so spindly I hope he can make the routine plays. It'll be fun to watch. I just can't picture him being a rock solid ss. Spring training should tell all. Maybe we'll keep Juan around in case Lexi can't cut it at ss. Again, we should know halfway through spring training with all the balls that get hit at ss. NCsoxfan
Speak of the devil.... The Red Sox apparently have dropped out of talks with the White Sox for starter Javier Vazquez. But one executive insists White Sox GM Ken Williams can "get a lot" in trade for Vazquez, although it might take some time. The Mets remain a possibility. … The White Sox and Yankees have talked several times, including at length late Wednesday night, perhaps about outfielder/first baseman Nick Swisher. Williams and Yankees GM Brian Cashman are close. Could Yankees second baseman Robinson Cano be part of a swap? He is owed at least $27 million for the next four years and has fallen out of favor. Swisher is due $21 million for three years. …
