World Baseball Classic

Featured Replies

I was recently thinking about how disappointed it makes me that fewer American pitchers are particularly excited or willing to pitch for Team USA in the World Baseball Classic... and then Roy Oswalt signed on to be the team's ace, and I think my heart stopped. Oswalt's one of my very favorite pitchers, and the thought of him being hurt in these exhibitions is rough, especially after he hurt his hip last year and had a bad first half as a result.

But still, the rational side of me says that the WBC isn't really that bad for players, and that it's a fun game.

I'm looking forward to it.

I'd love nothing more than to see ZERO white sox participate in this Bud Selig money play.

The more I think about the WBC, the less I care for it. I wouldn't go, and I don't want any important players to go (no matter the country they represent).

I look at is as me being able to watch baseball earlier. It beats watching Spring Training.

I hope it becomes a big deal for all parties along and we can see the best players from every country play every year in an ultra competitive tournament. I'd like it to become more important than the MLB Playoffs.

If I'm an Astros fan I'm pissed

I like this.

MLB.com: Is it hard to get motivated for a tournament that isn't the World Series, and one that is played in March, after everyone has just had so much down time over the winter?

Oswalt: It's actually pretty easy to get up for this. You're looking at representing the whole United States instead of representing just one city. It's not a true Olympics, but you are facing world competition, where you're going to get yourself up to beat a foreign country.

Boers and Bernstein have done great segments on the WBC the last couple of days.

Very well said Oswald! Get your shirt with the three letters in the front and kick some butts in the WBC.
