Turn it on! Ozzie, Baines, Walker, Fisk, etc....

I hate Dish network

I believe that on Sunday eevning you see Carlton Fisk and the Chisox in his debut against his former team the Red Sox in 1981

Hawk sounds different. I mean you can tell it's him, but he still sounds different.

kinda cool watching it this morning. HOF battery with Seaver and Fisk. and a few HOF matchups between Seaver and Winfield and Henderson with Fisk catching. very nostalgic. amazing how much smaller the player's looked back in the 80's

is there a replay for this game?

Guillen, Walker, Baines all looked downright skinny. At least Pudge, Winfield, Baylor all looked like they had a little meat on their bones. Great interview of Seaver by Drysdale following the game. Tommy still looked and sounded) like a teenager at 40. Great telecast - try to catch a repeat, if possible.

Yeah, he does. He also sounds like a much better play-by-play guy, given that he's not spewing a catch-phrase every 30 seconds, defending the organization's controversial decisions, or trying to convince us that the umpires are conspiring against the Sox. I had forgotten how much better he was back in the '80s and early '90s.

I still have the VHS tape I made the day this game aired on Channel 32. Recorded it on my folks' primitive top-loader VCR and didn't have a chance to edit out the commercials; some pretty cool ads too... Taco Bell's PIZZAZZ Pizza (now their "Mexican Pizza") and my favorite ad for RC Cola starting with a crowd in Red Square (half for Coke, half for Pepsi), then cut away to a remote cabin where everyone's dancing and partying while drinking RC, then there's a knock on the door...

Also watch for a great close-up of Billy Martin in the dugout after a White Sox walk. You don't have to have a degree in lip-reading to know what he said ("son of a f***ing b****!").

Watching that game was just downright fun. What a great pitcher Tom Seaver was and it is an honor to know he was part of the Chisox even if it was at the end of his career. He was still a winner and awesome at 40.

Now I think it will be fun to watch the 1981 Sox with Carlton Fisk debuting against his former mates the Red Sox. That's on tonight on MLB

I remember watching the game at the time. I'm a big Seaver fan, even managed to get a teacher in school let me read his auto-bio as an assignment. Watching him and Fisk work batters together is just great baseball.
