April 10, 200917 yr This is first time I'm doing Fantasy Baseball, on ESPN , currently 11 out of 13 !!! If I posted my lineup would you guys give me few tips? Is there a website that clearly explains how to play? For example I didn't know the lineups are like 12 players long?

You're lacking a closer or two and you're thin in starting pitching. I like your OF but trading Lincecum and Manny in separate trades to improve your pitching depth and overall infield couldn't hurt. Manny's overrated and Lincecum is due to break down this year. Can you copy/paste your free agent hitter and pitcher lists?

April 12, 200917 yr Oh no, do we need to help you sell auto parts so you don't lose your dad's factory?
April 12, 200917 yr Mike Pelfrey, NYM SP Todd Wellemeyer, StL SP, RP Zach Duke, Pit SP Edwin Jackson, Det SP Paul Maholm, Pit SP Dave Bush, Mil SP Trevor Hoffman*, Mil RP Kyle McClellan, StL RP These are guys that you should look at to replace your non closer relievers. Matt Thornton, CWS RP J.J. Putz, NYM RP Hideki Okajima, Bos RP Dan Wheeler, TB RP Those guys are fairly useless in fantasy baseball.
April 12, 200917 yr Author Thank you sir, so doesn't matter how many staring pitchers I carry? It's all about starters and closers because they can give you most points.
April 12, 200917 yr I'd try to get at least 3 closers on your roster if possible. If the game allows you to have unlimited innings, I'd get as many SPs as possible who are doing decently.
April 12, 200917 yr That waiver wire is slim pickings hitter-wise. I'd wait and see what good hitters slump early on and pick up a guy that someone releases.
April 12, 200917 yr Author QUOTE (knightni @ Apr 12, 2009 -> 06:04 PM) That waiver wire is slim pickings hitter-wise. I'd wait and see what good hitters slump early on and pick up a guy that someone releases. Probably gonna dump one of the starters for a closer. Edwin Jackson and Lincecum both got hit today.
April 19, 200916 yr Add Maholm and reap the next couple of quality starts he gives you and sell high! Hoffman is a must add for you imo. You could use a closer and he should come back and be just fine because Milwaukee needs help lol.
April 19, 200916 yr Author I added Maholm, but I have Wellmayer going today against Lilly and the Cubs, should I keep him?
April 19, 200916 yr Keep an eye on the Cardinals', Angels', Rockies' and Tigers' bullpen situations. You may be able to snatch up a closer off of the waiver wire.
May 3, 200916 yr Author I just added Trevor Hoffman, my pitching currently sits like this: Lincecum, DiceK, Cueto, Gavin Floyd, Edwin Jackson, Joe Saunders, Paul Maholm, Mike Pelfrey, Trevor Hoffman, Ching-Ming Wang on DL, and David Price on the bench. I'm able to carry 9 pitchers on the active roster. Should I take a chance with Matt LaPorta? My outfield right now is Manny, Tori Hunter, Ryan Ludwick, Denard Span, and Jordan Schafer, the last two contribute the least out of the 5.
May 3, 200916 yr Schafer is not that great of a fantasy player yet. He doesn't steal enough and he Ks too much. If you want to pick up LaPorta for him, you can; but I don't know how well LaPorta will do versus mlb pitching. He could be great, he could be average, he could be Russell Branyan.
