They end up losing Kariya and getting Fed for about the same money.

As much as I hated to see Kariya go, I think they are at least back on their feet with this move.

Damn, thats an awesome move by the Ducks. Federov is superior player to Kariya.

And I'm sure the Hawks offered Federov the same or better in terms of contract. Federov just wanted to go to the West Coast.

Well, he probably feels if Kariya is the only one to go, then the Ducks will still be a good team. Dont know if he could say that about the Hawks, although I think they would of been pretty good if they added Ruutu and Federov.

agreed. federov = overrated. kariya was a horse, i don't think federov comes back after a hit like kariya took from scott stevens in the finals. he was the heart and soul of the ducks. i think federov needs good people around him to be good.

It is nice to see Detroit(SUCKS) finally losing a good player. With the aging centers on Detroit(SUCKS), this may be a bigger move than many think. He carried that team when Yzerman went down.

Federov is one of the best two way players in the game. He really plays a good defensive game, unlike Kariya.

 

Kariya took plenty of nights off this year (not to mention a few in the playoffs)

 

Federov will outscore Kariya, he plays defense, and he's a pretty damn clutch player
