July 19, 200322 yr Yeah, he's with the Marlins right now but oye! would he look good in a Sox uniform. Great speed and a ton of desire for the game. If the current Sox roster had one ounce of this kids desire.. we'd have won 60 games easily by now!
July 19, 200322 yr We saw him in the orange juice dome a couple of weeks back. I thought Huff, Baldelli and Crawford were good players. The D Rays, don't laugh might not be too bad in a couple of years. Baldelli can fly on the base paths and in center field. He looks to have a great future.
July 19, 200322 yr Author He's a Devil Ray. Which means we could probably unload 3 prospects for him. Duh! I meant to just type Florida... Maybe they'll take Koch..
July 19, 200322 yr Maybe they'll take Koch.. They've got their lights-out All-Star closer Lance Carter.

July 20, 200322 yr would you put down baseball prospectus for one second and look at what he's doing. he's hitting .301 for a s***ty team, which is better than anyone's average on the sox. he can play d, he can fly, he plays hard.
July 20, 200322 yr OVERRATED! He needs to walk more and then he'll live up to his hype. Yeah, let's hope he doesn't hit like Pete Rose or Tony Gwynn. That would be terrible. He'd be way overrated.
July 20, 200322 yr Give me a break, people are going apes*** over a .327 OBP. Also, Tony Gwynn averaged 40 walks a year, Rose 65. Baldelli is on apce to amass a great total of...23.

July 20, 200322 yr I believe that he is one of Lou Pinellas untouchables . Otherwise I'd love to see him in a sox uni.

I know what he's doing, he's getting on base at a 33% clip. It sucks, get over it.
July 20, 200322 yr He's also a freakin rookie that is barely 21 years old, IF he is. He's also the same kid that didn't draw a single walk in over 100 plate appearences in AAA last year. Don't get me wrong, I like the kid, he just isn't the "future" of the game like many believe he will be. Plate discipline is probably the hardest thing to learn in all of baseball, other than to hit.

This is my point of view on Baldelli's future. His amazing natural born talent is something that cannot be taught, but being more and more patient is something that can be taught. I believe the sky is the limit for this guy.
July 20, 200322 yr OVERRATED! He needs to walk more and then he'll live up to his hype. I agree with you. And he has all this fame because he is girl's boy....
