JPN366
With Wilson Betemit being outrighted to Charlotte, and Corky Miller already there, but immediately placed on the DL, are the White Sox really going to bring either back? Honestly? It's not impossible, but very unlikely. So, why try to keep them? Let them go and find jobs elsewhere. Thoughts?
Buehrle>Wood
They each had the right to go to Charlotte or become a FA as far as I know (did Betemit accept assignment yet?). We're paying them anyways; we mind as well get some hopefully unneeded depth.
BearSox
Considering they didn't refuse assignment to Charlotte, they want to be there most likely.
JPN366
QUOTE (BearSox @ Jun 12, 2009 -> 04:36 PM) Considering they didn't refuse assignment to Charlotte, they want to be there most likely. Granted, but why not release them outright? I just don't see either player coming back to the White Sox. They wouldn't have acquired Castro if the had Miller in the plans for the rest of 2009. Betemit played his way out of Chicago.

Buehrle>Wood
As president of the Widgenation, I fully support a move back to the White Sox.
JPN366
Well, some clarity on the issue. Knights third basemen Javier Castillo was traded to the Mets, so that should clear up a roster spot for Betemit. See my blurb about it on Future Sox. BearSox
QUOTE (JPN366 @ Jun 12, 2009 -> 04:52 PM) Granted, but why not release them outright? I just don't see either player coming back to the White Sox. They wouldn't have acquired Castro if the had Miller in the plans for the rest of 2009. Betemit played his way out of Chicago. It's to improve the Charlotte team. I'm sure the ownership in Charlotte isn't loving that the best player on the team is Andy Phillips. If anything, having Betemit rake at AAA will raise his value a bit and might be an add in player in a bigger trade to an NL team.
