No thoughts until the prelim. Class 3 assult is the most difficult to prove though. That says a lot about what evidence they may or may not have though.. clujer420
Well, as you can tell by my posts on this topic, I don't think he did it either. However, I was shocked when he admitted to adultery, so I suppose anything is possible. But, if I had to bet on it, I'd lay my money on the "not guilty" side of the table. I like how he waited to admit adultery until charges were going to be filed, not during his initial "I'm innocent" statement. Looks like he was trying to save his image if you ask me. Now that he has to admit he did something, he chooses the next best option. Right now he is innocent until proven guilty but after some of the evidence that they apparently have (ripped clothing, blood/skin under the girl's fingernails) I am leaning towards saying that he did it if I had to make a prediction. The Critic
I like how he waited to admit adultery until charges were going to be filed, not during his initial "I'm innocent" statement. My guess is that his lawyers told him to hold any statement until a decision was made whether or not to file charges. If no charges were filed, he could say "I told you so", and when charges were filed, go to Plan B, which was admitting a sexual encounter but denying any use of force. My gut feeling is that he did it, but that's ALL it is....a gut feeling, with NO basis in evidence or fact. I just got a real bad feeling from his admission/denial/love letter to his wife at the Staples Center. That was kinda creepy and weird. I'm going to wait until the evidence comes out before I form a real opinion.
whitesox247
I'm just sick of how most people are absolutely refusing to believe that Kobe is guilty and calling the girl a b**** that doesnt know what shes doing. Personally, I'm a Kobe fan and I dont think hes guilty. But we can only speculate at this point and its classless to call someone a b**** just because she accused the heroic, glamourous Kobe. :puke
Guest wsc425
I know rape isn't funny. But this chick is out of her mind. Kobe did not rape her. I have no evidential status of that, but I do believe that he is not like that.

Anything is possible at this point.

Like clujer said, we might not know the real Kobe.

Like clujer said, we might not know the real Kobe. If I had to pick 1 athlete and bet everything I own that he would never be charged with rape or commit adultery, it would have been Kobe. I'm still pretty shocked that this whole thing is happening, and I'm extremely disappointed in him. It just goes to show you that even the seemingly perfect have their flaws. cwsox
My statement of Kobe. He is innocent. He did not rape her. He even said so himself, and his word is a man's word. What do you all think? I thionk you are the most naive person to come down the pike since Elly May Clampett - and she was fictional, so that makes you the champ at naivete. You asked what we thought - there it is. Naive is not necessarily a bad thing at his age. He still has plenty of time to become a jaded, cynical smartass like me. Let him stay naive for a bit longer, let him believe in honesty and decency. Soon enough he will find out that the bridge in brooklyn is not really for sale.

I dont think him automatically thinking its the girl is a good thing at his age. Either is the fact that since Kobe seems like a "great guy" on television to dimiss him as being innocent. I find a bit of irony in the fact that Kobe did Sprite commercials in which the tagline was "Image is Nothing..." In Kobe's case, image is everything and he's already taken a bit hit to it with waiting to admit he even had sex with the girl until after the charges were filed... Bmr31
Just based on what ive read(and it all may not be accurate), i find it really difficult to see any motivation at all from this girl to make this story up. Even if Kobe used her and threw her away, its not like they were in a long term thing. I dont see her taking it this far for being used. Other than that, i honestly dont see her motivation at this point.

Especially considering the fact that she knows he's gonna have a good defense and that if she is lying, he's not going to be convicted anyhow and there's no way to settle this out of court with a monetary settlement... I dont think him automatically thinking its the girl is a good thing at his age. It is possible that neither is a horrible human being. Kobe is an adulterer, and in some people's opinion, that alone makes him a horrible human being. But, I don't feel that adultery in and of itself makes you horrible. It's entirely possible that they had consensual sex, but the girl fully believes she was raped.

Let him stay naive for a bit longer, let him believe in honesty and decency. I don't believe in innocence and naivté, I didn't when I was kid, nor with with my kids, nor with my grandson, who is 8. In fact I took the grandson to John Wayne Gacy's old homesite last week and discussed not letting strangers get close to you is not a trite saying but survival and street smarts. Being cynical can come later, but there is a place where one is aware and street smart without being naivé nor cynical. Unless a kid knows there is dishonest and indeceny out there as well as honesty and decency, there is greater potential for trouble. And we talked about how to tell the difference. And no I didn't go into Gacy details, just generalities, he is too young for that, just be aware, be very aware. And never buy into image or superficialities.
