Playing video files on PS3

Featured Replies

I've downloaded a movie onto my computer, however I would like to watch it on my PS3. Does anyone have any step by step directions on how to do so? I'm wondering if I could just copy it to a flash drive and play it through the PS3?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

You certainly can do it with a flash drive.

You can also download something like tversity and stream it to your PS3 from your PC.

If I do it with the flash drive, what is the correct way to copy it to the flash drive, and where do I go on the PS3 to open the file and play it from the flash drive?

I tried it before and it didn't work......I'm not sure I copied the file correctly because when I went to open it on the PS3 it said "no titles"

Just burn it as a file to a blank disk. Then insert blank disk into PS3 and it should read the file. There are a few files that are not compatible, but for the most part this way works.

Let's assume I don't have any discs to burn on.

You actually have to highlight the flash drive and then hit the button that brings up the options. Triangle or circle...I forget. Then click details to pull up the folders on your flash drive. Took me a minute to figure it out. I thought there was a problem with mine as well.

Tversity is what I use.

Worked with the flash drive the other night, Big Sqwert was right, had to hit the triangle button to pull up the options on the PS3.

Tversity is what I use to watch Movies on my PS3 never fails except with .mkv files but now I don't have to worry because 3.0 allows .mkv I heard but I haven't tested it to see if it's true.

Download Vuze, you can then copy it wirelessly to your PS3 or you can stream it over your network.
