November 13, 200916 yr Author QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Nov 12, 2009 -> 10:39 PM) JR just needs to stop being a cheap ass and this team needs to be sold to someone with the Steinbrenner mentality or invest in better scouting, development. I'm hoping "money is tight" is just a smoke screen. Didn't the White Flag mentality go out with the 21st century?

November 13, 200916 yr Author QUOTE (bmags @ Nov 13, 2009 -> 08:44 AM) I saw that, but keep in mind who that was written by. He does have a very good point though. The Cardinals don't exactly have a history of breaking the bank for players, nor having a very big payroll. If Pujols were to ask for a 10 year deal at $300 million, or even $250 million, do they pay it? Do they hold on to him through his current deal? Or do they try to rebuild the franchise by dealing him? I don't know how likely or unlikely it is, but it isn't that difficult to put together a scenario where Pujols gets traded.
