July 29, 200322 yr Reed Crashing and Banging His Way to the Major Leagues Definitely worth reading........
July 29, 200322 yr Author My thoughts on Reed (also posted in another thread).... Reed is an excellent player. Right now the only question about him is how much power will he develop. Right now he would fit very nicely as a two-hole hitter. He can hit the ball to all fields, can bunt (both for sac and for a hit), run, and doesn't strike out much. If, down the road he develops more than gap power, he could easily move into the three hole and be an unbelievable hitter. Some may question his defense, but I sure don't see it. He has played a stellar OF whether he has played RF or CF. He has made some unbelievable catches. I see him as a really solid Major Leaguer. He may not be spetacular, but he will be good at the least. He brings all of the intangibles you want to the table as well. He is just a damned good baseball player.
July 29, 200322 yr Gotta be a September call up. like rex said, why start his clock on his service time?
July 29, 200322 yr Thanks for posting the article, Rex. It's definitly a good read. I love hearing good things like this about Sox prospects!
July 29, 200322 yr We could have used him in Chicago for the first half, the way things went. But Rowand is coming around, and Everett is still very good with the bat.
July 30, 200322 yr Author Rex, was his first homer a solo or 2 run? Not sure yet. Only caught bits and pieces of the broadcast. I do know that they score two runs in the 3rd inning (which was his first HR), so it is definitely possible. I do know that he drew a walk in the 7th inning too. Sorry I didn't catch more of it.
