Garland and Loiaza are pitching for us. I believe in that order, but that I am not positive of...

thank you :cheers

Buehrle vs May

Garland vs Hernandez

Loaiza vs Snyder

Barring an unfortunately poor start from Loaiza or Buehrle, I think we take two of three of these games easy!!

I think the first game is the most important game of the series. I view the 3rd game as our best chance to win with tomorrow's game a real tossup, though Garland could certainly outpitch Hernandez.

May has been real good as of late and it'd be great to knock off their ace (i'll give it to him over Lima) on the road with arguably our 3rd best pitcher this year

I suppose you could argue MB being our 3rd best, but I'd rank them in this order...

Loaiza obviously 1st, MB 2nd, Colon 3rd, and Garland 4th. MB, BC, and JG aren't too far off from each other, though, so it could really go either way. Here are a few of their stats so far in '03...

Garland = 118.7 IP, 69 strikeouts, 1.34 WHIP, 4.40 ERA

Colon = 154 IP, 113 strikeouts, 1.23 WHIP, 4.09 ERA

Buehrle = 149.7 IP, 78 strikeouts, 1.38 WHIP, 4.21 ERA

Looking at that, you'd have to put BC 2nd, as his WHIP and ERA are the lowest of the 3, and he's got way more K's and CG's (5 for Colon, 1 for Buehrle, 0 for Garland).

Ya, i pretty much said you could argue Buehrle as the 3 because of his subpar whip and somewhat ERA compared to Colon.

He has been a lot better the last month (probly have more confidence in him now than Colon), but if you look at the whole year, he'd probly be the 3.

I definitely have Garland a notch below both MB and BC so far. He just hasn't quite taken that step up to the next level, though i think he's close

Gar has always pitched well vs KC.

Over the past 3 years, here are some of Jon's stats against the Royals...

Overall, he's 5-2 (12 appearances, 9 starts) with an ERA of 3.30 and a WHIP of 1.27. The Royals are hitting .240 off of him. At Kauffman Stadium, however, his numbers aren't nearly as good. There, he's 2-2 with an ERA of 4.94 and a WHIP of 1.39. And on the road, the Royals are hitting .270 against Jon.

Gotta :wub: stats. :D

It is nice to know that Mark Buehrle is 6-0 against the royals. Though May has won five straight decisions. I still don't think the Royals have enough to outlast the resurgent Sox! :headbang

The best thing about this thread is we are talking about our fourth best pitcher with great numbers. Let's roll.

Buehrle is not 6-0 vs. KC. he lost Opening Day this year, though he pitched well.

if the Sox are going to win the division, they have to beat pitchers like Darrell May.

He's had a decent season for Team Cinderella, but the guy is 31 years old and entered this season with six career big-league victories.

This is THE game of the series. If you lose it, you feel as if you HAVE to win the next two.

If you win it, the Royals start to squirm a bit.

Heres a fact that I know everyone would like to hear:

The rotation of Mark Buehrle, Bartolo Colon, Jon Garland and Esteban Loaiza leads the American League in quality starts with 63. :headbang

I saw that the other night. In terms of QS, we are #2 in the MAJORS, behind only the Dodgers. I found that absolutely amazing. We have 63 (64 now, after Sunday), and the Dodgers had 64, but they probably have 65 now. Amazing.

Amazing.

Absolutely. I feel like we have a good chance to win everyday with those 4 guys out there. :headbang

Here's to 67 QS by Thursday.

I think Koch lost openning day right?

No. We lost 3-0 on opening day.

Which game am I thinking of, didn't Koch blow a 6-4 game for a 12-6 loss in the first series.

Yep, we were up 6-5, and Koch allowed all 6 baserunners to reach, and we lost 12-6. :puke

That was the 3rd game of the series.

In the final game, the Royals scored seven in the eighth inning to claim a 12-6 victory, marking Kansas City's first sweep of the White Sox since May 5-7, 2000.

Ken Harvey delivered the game-winner off of Billy Koch, who didn't retire a batter in that particular appearance. It was a very early sign of trouble to come for the White Sox closer, who brings a 5.52 earned-run average through 45 games into Tuesday.
