BridgeportHeather
Very rare did the Sox answer back after giving up runs to their opposition during April, May, and the early part of June. Today, they not only equal KC's 2-run 3rd the next inning...they topped it! I think constantly distancing themselves from KC when KC tried to inch closer was the key to tonight's game...putting the pressure on them constantly! If they keep playing like this, they will win ballgames.

The Critic
I heard Rooney and Farmer say the EXACT same thing after the Sox put up that 3-spot.... "and remember, kids, the key to winning baseball games is to score more runs than your opposition, while simultaneously holding your opponents to fewer runs than your team scores. The team that can successfully achieve this will, more often than not, be victorious."
CubKilla
that was what we did all through 2000 - look at the box scores - as Heather Lee said, it is so key - Isn't scoring more runs than the opposition always the key ?
Big Irish
MB was pissed after the 3rd because the runs were scored on infield hits. the fact that the offence came back with a 3 spot settled MB back down and allowed him to finish strong. If we don't put up that 3 spot, MB comes out for the 4th still pissed and who knows what would have happened. Keep it going. This is AWSOME!!! Jordan4life_2003
Exactly. U gotta pressure teams...U can't have a big inning and then get shuw down the rest of the way. U gotta constantly put the pressure on the other team to score runs...
