He had a 1.86 ERA over 9 innings.

I don't care how old he is...if he can keep that up I'd take him.

and right in time for the Boston series.

We're getting the band back together.

I wouldn't at all be against this move

Have Cooper evaluate him. Flying him to Cleveland wouldn't cost much. If he thinks it's worth a chance for a bit of brief relief, go for it. That couldn't cost much either. I think our AAA bullpen help hasn't been as bad as it could've been. Last night's blown save was from our stated closer who, over the last few days, has been asked to expand his role.

I'm sure he's very much toast. Pass.

White Sox expect to stand pat — 11:14 a.m.

On Monday, the White Sox acquired Manny Ramirez on waivers. But it doesn’t appear that they will trade for a reliever before tonight’s deadline to set postseason rosters.

“We will add Matt Thornton in a couple days and J.J. Putz,” general manager Kenny Williams said in an e-mail this morning. “There’s nobody I could add better than them.”

Thornton, an All-Star who is on the disabled list with left elbow inflammation, could be activated for Friday’s series opener in Boston.

Putz, suffering from patella tendinitis in his right knee, is eligible to return during next week’s series against the Tigers.

The Chicago bullpen was a weak spot on Monday night, as Bobby Jenks blew a three-run save opportunity against the Indians before the White Sox prevailed in extra innings.

Why would the Nats want to call him up? They aren't going anywhere and wouldn't have a need for the Duke

Presumably the Nats would have to cut him. I don't think "I'm going home" releases one from a contract.

The rosters expand tomorrow and they have a strasburg sized gap in their pitching staff, why wouldnt they want to see if he had anything in the tank?

I've seen him this year. He still has that nasty curveball and still knows how to pitch. He actually hit 88 on the gun, but sat in the 85 range. Curveball is still flat out nasty.

Why not. Take a run at the guy pick up his salary.

They are looking at youth not a veteran player in their minor league system plus they probably would have to pay him some real money considering they would be adding him to the major league roster-but that's just my guess

That says it all right there. Our minor league guys have not be all that good when called up. Only Harrell had that one good game
