MurcieOne
Im not sure if this has been brought up or not, but... I think Jerry deserves some respect for his managing last night, and in recent months. Much like Jerry was outmanaged in the 2000 playoffs by Piniella.... he outmanaged Pena last night. Olivo came up with man on 1st and second......JM goes and gets Daubach....Pena goes and Gets the lefty Llyod to face the Lefty Daubach... JM pulls BD back pulls out the right-handed Sandy...Sandy wins the game.... he used Dauber as bait to get the matchup he wanted.... impressive im my book. I mean i was thinking the same thing, as was Hawk right away...he said "go to Sandy" right before commercial break He's a major league manager, he should be able to get moves like that right

VAfan
Call it the "Daubach feint." He's done it 3 times already in the last couple of weeks and won two ballgames with it. They nominated it for "managerial move of the week" when he used against the Tigers to get Graffy a 3-run HR, but I don't know if he won. The second time Graffy flied out to right, but I think was critical later in the extra inning win at Toronto. Then last night. After starting the season by leaving Rios and Daubach idling while Rowand and Sandy flailed away in the 8th of a 2-0 loss to KC, I think JM has come a long way regarding the use of his full roster. He consistently tries to use everyone now.
CubKilla
It wasn't so much JM outcoaching Pena as it was JM doing what he does and has done so many times before in the past..... play the averages. That's all it was. This time it worked out in our favor. YEAH JM!

Texsox
in your sig, is that 911 or iwo jima(sp) Iwo Jima Memorial. The original happens to sit in Harlingen Texas at the Marine Military Acadamy. Changed it on the fourth of July and haven't dared switch to something else. I'm getting superstitous.

Texsox
Trader! Killa, In the immortal words of that great rock superstar Meatloaf 2 out of 3 aint bad. Seems that in recent memory JM isn't up to 2 out of three. Hell even KW can boast 2 out of 3. Even a blind dog finds an acorn from time to time. At this point he's the guy for 2003. Too late to make a change and it probably wouldn't help. I can't believe I'm thinking it may hurt the team to make a switch at this time. But when the first opportunity for change presents itself again..... FIRE JERRY MANUEL!

But when the first opportunity for change presents itself again..... FIRE JERRY MANUEL! Let's see what it will take to see JM next season in the Sox dugout. Miss playoffs? See ya. Adios. No chance to see Spring in Chicago. Sell the house. Playoff spot? Slim chance but maybe to save money . . . First round win? Very good chance ALCS? Excellent chance WS Loss? Hell we'll have a parade and annoint him the biggest thing since Da Coach WS Win? Rename Michigan Avenue.
