Bulls success = White Sox payroll?

Why would the Sox get insurance money for Peavy? I've seen it rumored here, but I really don't see how they would. Peavy pitched last year, and he pitched this year too. The point of an insurance policy is that you insure things that are devastating but aren't likely to happen...car insurances covers accidents, home owners insurance covers your house in the case of a damaging storm, life insurance helps cover what could happen if something were to happen to you. Jake Peavy getting hurt isn't devastating and was pretty damn likely. I understand that they would want something on a contract that size, but an insurance company would have had to have been run idiots to insure him without charging the Sox a huge premium, which essentially ruins the point of the insurance policy.
