August 3, 200322 yr 2 of the three home run balls that were hit out by Arizona, got a different ball thrown back. What an idiotic tradition it must be when they now have to bring fake balls, to please the drunk morons.
August 3, 200322 yr even if they do throw the real ball back they're still idiots. give it to a little kid or something, instead of showing everyone how weak your arm is, and maybe endangering one of the players.
August 3, 200322 yr And KUDOS to espn for showing the idiot on SportsCenter doing the "switcheroo". The dumbest "tradition" in baseball just got dumber. Talk about buckling to peer pressure! What was going through that f***wipe's head while getting ready to go there?? "Cellphone? check. Bail money, just in case? check. Ball to throw onto field in the unlikely event of catching an opponent's home run ball, so the frat brothers don't knock the snot out of me for wanting to keep it? check!"
August 3, 200322 yr And dangerous? What if a player got hit in the head? Then whoever threw it would be sitting in a jail cell and likely charged with assault. Perhaps assault with a deadly weapon.
August 3, 200322 yr I was at the game Cubs game yesterday. The Cubs fans ripped the person who got the ball. Booing and just hollering at the person. Junior Spivey hit the ball too, a former All-Star. Someone threw a different ball to the person, you could see them do it. I say forget throwing the ball back, give it to a child. When I was younger I would have loved, absolutely loved, to get a ball, especially a home run ball from a former All-Star. Cubs fans got what they deserved, a loss. Good ole' Raul "I'm batting .100 for 'Zona" Mondesi came through. It was good to see my friends sit and watch the Cubs blow a lead. Their bullpen, with the exception of Farnsworth, is junk.

August 3, 200322 yr I'm gonna get bleacher tickets to a Cubs gm just to see if I can get lucky and catch a hr ball. I dare any of those drunk ass beer belly Cubs fans to try and intimidate me to throwin the ball back...
