Good parks in Chicago for picnics/pick up football

Featured Replies

So Im trying to organize a football game (7-7) and a picnic for some alumni and actives in an organization Im in in the Chicago area. I don't know the park system that well, but we are looking at probably about 20 people and would like to just be able to relax and play some football somewhere. We want it to be near enough to public transportation/highways so that people coming in/out of downtown can access it easily. I think the most important thing is that we are able to reserve a spot somewhere so that we don't have to fight for space, especially considering people may be coming from out of town for this.

Any recommendations?

Call the Chicago Park District to see if they even do something like that. I know that any pick up game, etc Ive ever been at has been first come first serve.

Skinner park near me is centrally located. Its right by Whitney Young.

And there are actually alot of spaces in Grant Park. Also right off of North Ave and Lakeshore there is a huge area.

They play some form of pick up football at Soldier Field every year -- they suck balls -- but 'da fans' of 'dat team' that plays there swear they're not only the greatest team ever, but have an excuse at the ready as to why they win fluke games and somehow that it's all part of the plan, but if they happen to lose, it's because they gave the game away...not because they suck balls. :D

If you happen to be a WR, you're probably better than anything they have at the moment, too.

Ok...I swear I'm done. :D

Just go to Grant Park as Rock said, there is always enough room.
